Loko upset Illawarra Champions

It was only fitting that Loko's first round game in the NSW Tiger Turf cup was played on a field with trains passing on two sides.

On a balmy Sydney evening, a good crowd turned out to cheer on Lokomotiv in their Round 1 match against Illawarra Champions, Albion Park White Eagles at Fraser Park.

Absorbing the pressure for the first 10 minutes, Loko eased into the game but it wasn't long though before poor distribution from Albion Park's keeper led to the first goal of the match. Chad Gibson pounced on the ball well outside the penalty area and calmly chipped the keeper who was still off his line. 1-0 to Loko and the crowd began to get more vocal.

Going into the half time break with a one goal lead, Loko knew it wasn't enough and came out just as strong in the second half. James Koutzoumis sealed the deal, to the rapturous cheers of the Loko home end "The Terminus", with two more goals bringing his goal Tally to 3 in 2 Tiger Turf matches.

A momentous occasion for a club just over 2 years old and one that will be remembered for a long time to come. It's just start of the Tiger Turf competition, but what a start it was!
