Loko wins McDonald's Cup first round!

Last night, Fraser Park was alive with football action as the prem's took on State League Div 2 side, Fairfield Wanderers in the McDonald's Cup.

Although it was a little chilly down there, the atmosphere was hot and after taking an early 1-0 lead, Loko were looking good until Fairfield got a free kick and the score was locked at 1 - 1 which is how the scores remained going into half time. After a no doubt rousing talk from Coach Coates, Loko hit the field running as the second half started and although pushed hard, couldn't get that necessary goal and Fairfield looked like they might be able to get Loko on the break.

The full time whistle blew and the boys got ready for extra time with the scores deadlocked at 1-1. Getting a penalty and a keeping a cool head, Loko converted and made the score 2-1 with only the second half of extra time remaining. Not long after, Loko got another goal and ended up winning the match 3 - 1.

Congratulations to the goal scorers Joel Scott and Jon Tappin (x2) and congratulations to the whole team (managers and fitness coach included!). It's such a fantastic result for a great bunch of lads and a really exciting time for Loko.

The details of the next round of McDonald's Cup action will be announced shortly and it would be great to get as many people down there as possible.
